Every day on my way to school I pass this place. It kept fascinating me, until I finally decided to check it out. Walking on that ground I felt a strong sense of freedom. At the same time, those big trees reminded me that in order to grow and withstand all storms you need to have deep roots.
If I had to choose between freedom and security, I’d always choose freedom. To me, it often feels as if security involved a loss of freedom, because of all the contraints that come with bonding.
In love, however, there is a mystery hard to understand. I believe that true love is always about a strong bonding and commitment, therefore security, and yet it does not limit freedom. Probably the strong sense of security is even what makes real freedom possible. Freedom to grow, freedom to discover new territories, freedom to fly.
Maybe you can relate to my thoughts and feelings while looking at this beautiful couple. I photographed their wedding one year before and I am glad that they were spontaneously ready to renew their commitment.
Nothing would have been possible without my man, who invested some of his free days for one of my crazy ideas. He is my safe haven, allowing me to feel free like a bird. I’m also beyond thankful to have friends that I can count on. It was a joy to see them have fun despite the hard work (and the jetlag).
