One of the most special weddings. A beautiful evidence of second chances. Intense feelings. Tears of joy. Loud laughter. Laughing into kisses. Enjoying each other’s presence in silence. Grace at display. A day unforgettable.
This wedding has been particularly special to me due to many reasons. Most importantly, dear friends got married and Matthias was the one to marry them. It was his first wedding and my heart was almost exploding listening to him preach, hearing him laugh and watching him hold the ceremony. Needless to say that he did a wonderful job. The months before the wedding we had met with them regularly for some premarital talking. Both couples read The 7 Principles for Making Marriage Work by John M. Gottman and shared our thoughts (I can only recommend the book – Matthias & I still go back to it every now and then). It drew us together even closer and our friendship grew stronger. Other friends of theirs are talented musicians, their parents spoke blessings over them in prayer and their personal vows were so sincere that the whole service was like a touch of heaven.
The day also began well. The “Getting Ready” started slow and then there was still enough time for the bride to have some fun with her girls. Before going to church they took time to pray for her and bless her. I am still so happy that I could convince the lovers to have a “First Look” before church – it was the most emotional one that I have ever witnessed and it touched my heart to see how they have both been in awe of the beauty of the beloved. Overwhelmed by the realisation that they were commited to stay by one’s side for good.
Throughout the whole day, their love was palpable – as well as their guests love for them. All have been so at ease with each other and the atmosphere was relaxed and full of joy – until late at night. It was a truly beautiful day.
This wedding made me realize how powerful trust is. The whole day, I knew that I was fully trusted to do a good job – which is why I could unfold freely. At the same time I also felt their trust because they were totally natural and seemed to be able to somehow blank out that I was taking pictures. No need to mention that I enjoyed every moment of their memorable day.
I can’t help but say that I love these two sweet souls and that I consider myself blessed to call them friends.
